Transportation
Started my career working on the Washington Metro in the MId 80s with Harry Weese before my last year at Mississippi State. At Odell I designed several parking decks for mixed-use developments, hospitals and laboratories. Masterplaned mass transit for NCSU Centennial Campus and Charlotte Douglas Airport. Was the Senior Designer for the masterplanning for the CATS lightrail Uptown stations and the design of the CATS Operation and maintenance Facility.
Aviation
Was one of the designers on several aviation projects with Odell Associates, The Wilson Group, Samaha and Pease Associates.This work included masterplaning, concourse expansions and design, hangers and parking decks.
With Brian Wilson, I designed Concourse D and E and Charlotte Douglas Int. Airport with The Wilson Group. We also designed the 6,000 car Daily Parking Deck for the airport.
This was my first project with Harry Weese
This was a parking deck for the CDIA General Aviation. The extra parking was required to support the NASCAR teams flying to Charlotte. The project was shelved when the teams decided to fly directly to Concord NC.
The CDIA Daily Parking Deck is a poured in place concrete parking deck for 6,000 cars. The parking areas are flat with vertical circulation of vehicle handled with helical ramps. To improve safety the concept was to make the parking deck as transparent as possible. All stairs and elevators are glass and the skin for the deck and helix are perforated stainless steel.
Concourse E is the commuter concourse for CDIA. Number of Gates: 38 Total SF: 130,000 SF
